Product Review: Paprika and Olive Oil Strengthening Mask

About a month ago, I purchased this mask from Amazon (click to be directed to the website). Even though I can't read the description, the ingredients are in English and this product has great reviews!

Amazon's Description: The mask has a slight warming effect, and all the properties of red hot pepper, and additionally introduced into the olive oil nourishes and moisturizes hair and scalp, restores the structure of the hair and facilitates combing.

Red chilies, thanks to its helpful and healing properties, is widely used in folk and traditional medicine for the prevention and treatment of many ailments and diseases. Red pepper is rich in vitamins A, C, P, B vitamins, contains a fatty and essential oils, steroidal saponins, carotene, capsaicin - the substance of a number of alkaloids, which gives zhguchest its fruits.

Introduced in the composition of our shampoo and mask balm extract of red hot pepper increases blood flow to the hair roots, promotes hair follicle supply of oxygen, vitamins, nutrients, stimulates and revitalizes dormant follicles, strengthens hair and promotes their active growth.

My review: This product definitely has a warm, tingling sensation on my scalp. The smell is great and the smell lingers a while after rinsing! I used it in my Pre-Poo and left it in for about 30 mins! It says to leave on for 3-5 mins but I took a chance.  Overall, this conditioner is very moisturizing, the price is nice, and it has a semi-thick consistency!

Co-Wash Day

Yesterday I cowshed my hair with Giovanni's Deep Moisture Conditioner!

First I...
1) Rinsed my hair in the shower with plain water.
2) Placed conditioner on my hair avoiding the roots.
3) Detangled my hair with the conditioner in it with a wide tooth comb.
4) Rinsed out the conditioner and applied it again as a leave in.
5) Squeezed excess water from my hair.
6) Used a piece of stocking to create my puff and accessorized with a clip-in hair bow!

Flat Ironing Natural Hair?!?!?!?!

Picture was taken a few months before I decided to go Natural!
To flat iron? Or not to flat iron? That is the question! Lately, I've been at a loss for words concerning my hair. I've been natural for about two years in September.

- Less Shedding/Breaking
- No schedule for retouches
- No protein/moisture balancing
- Flexibility

- Maintenance
- Hair needs moisture, moisture, and more moisture!
- Split ends
- 4(c) hair texture make wash days a very time consuming chore.

Deciding to go natural is one of the best decisions I have made. However, I am looking for a change. I've wrestled with the idea of getting a Keratin Treatment, Texlaxing, Texturizing, and lastly FLAT IRONING. (Which seems to be the winner!!)

I'm not sure of whether I want to flat iron it myself, or go to a salon. I like the independence and satisfaction that comes with styling my own hair. Also, I don't mind having a trustworthy stylist straighten it. Along with healthy hair habits and straightening my hair, I plan to reach my hair goal.

Don't get me wrong, I love my natural hair. I feel that everyone should rock the style that makes he/she look the best! This means natural, relaxed, texlaxed, braids, flat ironed, or [Insert Anything Hair Related].

My Thoughts: I tried this deep conditioner once before on my relaxed hair and didn't care for it much. However, my natural hair loves this conditioner. On my last wash day, I purchased the sample pack of this conditioner. I squeezed it into a container in order to not waste the product. After shampooing, I put the conditioner on my hair, and covered with a shower cap.  After 15 minutes, removing tangles, and rinsing my hair felt so silky. It was like having butter on my 4C hair. Its the best $4.00 I've spent on a sample pack of deep conditioner.

Other Advantages:
  • Removing tangles was SO EASY!
  • Moisturizes without sitting under the hair dryer
  • Very thick consistency with no shower cap leaking
  • Smells Amazing
  • No heavy residue after rinsing
  • The scent lingers but it is not overpowering
  • Can't say enough good things
  • I will repurchase in the normal size

Keep It OR Toss It: I'm Definitely Keeping it in my regimen!

I will update with pictures after my next deep condition with this product!
