Transitioning From Relaxed to Natural

I created a small video to showcase how far I've come on this natural hair journey.  The journey is far from over, but here is what I like to call PROGRESS.

Exciting News

I'm so excited that I can bring a new product home to my ever growing stash and extended hair family. Divachyk, from Relaxed Therapy, hosted a giveaway back in April for a product from NaturelleGrow.  It's called Marshmallow Root Slippery Elm Bark & Natural Cinnamon Infused Deep Conditioner.  I know what you're thinking. Say that ten times I right?

Regardless, I have been wanting to try something with marshmallow root in it every since I read about the great results that Jen from JGA had with it.  Here is her first and second post about it.

Marshmallow root is said to be wonderful for removing tangles and my natural hair loves anything slip 'n' slide.

Also, I must add that:
"Marshmallow is high in plant protein that promotes healthy hair growth and shine while also soothing dry scalp and skin inflammation." -NaturelleGrow

Long story just a tad bit longer, I won the giveaway and I can't wait to try to product out and do a full review on it.  All links are in PINK if you want to check out anything that I mentioned. A big thank you goes out to Divachyk for hosting this giveaway and to Naturelle Grow for sponsoring it.

Back Curly

Straight haired days are over until October. It's been nice but I'm back curly. Oh how I've missed thee.
Whips twigs back and forth while singing "Crazy Love." Oh yes! This week will be spent in low manipulation bliss not at all concerned about wrapping, moisturizing and sealing, or even thinking about a comb. Yes this is crazy love in my opinion.

New Hair Goodies

I bought this conditioner 3 weeks ago and have used it in place of my shampoo/conditioner on wash days. This new co-wash is apart of my regimen for the warmer months (April-October). Shampoo Free Summer.  As I Am CC is the bread, butter, and water of any other co-wash I have ever tried. Review coming very soon.
I recently invested in perm rods and I must say that it was money well spent.  A pack of 12 perm rods are $0.99 cents at local beauty supply stores. I use them on my twist-outs to add curls to my ends. I also plan to invest in multiple sized perm rods to achieve different looks. Perm rods rock.
This is a new product that I actually have not yet tried but someone recommended it to me. Its fairly new to stores if I'm not mistaken. I bought it for about $4.00 and I can't wait to try it out. Eco Styler gel provides great hold for my puffs and twist outs. However, the custard is suppose to be good for flexible hold and moisturizing. Other scents include olive oil and original but this one smelled more pleasant to me.
It hurts my soul to talk negatively about this product. I've wanted it for so long. Once I purchased it and used on my hair, I immediately rummaged through my purse for the receipt. Hate to say it but my natural hair dislikes a lot of protein. This product didn't make my hair hard but my hair was lifeless. No body. No bounce. Just sitting there. No more protein for a while. On the bright side, it soaked right into my hair and oh how I wished it was doing magic inside those strands. Maybe just maybe I got a good protein treatment that strengthened my hair for washes to come. Lol I'll accept that.
These are my favorite hair ties by scunchi. I use to purchase them all the time at Walmart but eventually I stopped seeing them in the hair care section. Luckily I found a pack at Walgreen's over the weekend. The great part about this hair tie is that it has no metal parts holding the band together. Also, my personal favorite, it has no PLASTIC holding the band together either. It's just one solid hair tie with nothing to snag on your hair. Totally Great!

I Straightened My Hair

Before trim and slightly puffy due to humidity
I straightened my hair over the weekend because of a graduation I was suppose to attend. Long story short I didn't go because I slept in. LOL. No judgement. However, I did get a chance to check my length and get a good trim.

I will post about my length check very soon and update my sidebar information.

Good News: My hair has grown some since my last trim at the beginning of the year. (1/15/14)

Other News: This straight style will be the last until summer's end. I still plan to do protective and low manipulation styles until October. I'm making a pledge to myself to stay away from my trusty flat iron. Moisture in the air has already taken over my hair. Can't Beat Southern Heat.
